What are Southern Unionist? How did West Virginia become a state? How did some many dictators come into power in the 20th century? So many questions. I recently read a book called Lies My Teacher Told Me. It is a…Read more
I hope these words finds you well. You may or may not know I did my first album in 2000 with my group MoneyMakerz. Over the past several years, I have debated if I should do another album. However, I finally decided to do an album in November 2017 after hearing Donald Trump’s Chief of Staff John Kelly state Robert E. Lee was “an honorable man” and “the lack of an ability to compromise” led to the Civil War. I was finally fed up with all the unchallenged revisionist history that is being disperse by talking heads and governmental officials.
I created this album to shed light on true history, provide encouragement, and spark folks to run away from “the mental plantation”. As a result, I am making this album available for free on this website. You can download the album at the Store link. Additionally, the album will be available on all streaming services, such as Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple, Tidal, etc. However, if you are moved by the album I have allowed the option to make a purchase at any amount you feel. Rather it's $1 or $100. It does not matter. The booklet that accompanies this album provides liner notes, song lyrics, and historical facts that has had a significant impact on people of color. On this website, I plan to continue to spread the word on forgotten or little known history, and recommended books. You can find this information below in Journal of a Runaway section. For this album, I chose Runaway Slave as my artist name in memory of my enslaved ancestors that had the courage and determination to understand they were human and not property. They understood they could think for themselves and rather die trying to obtain freedom instead of yielding their body and soul under a man’s control. Physical bondage in America has been outlawed, but mentally many of us are still enslaved. I have seen many of my family members and people I grew up with over the years been mentally drained and have given up on what they could really be in this life. The education and justice systems have failed many of US. But, it is up to US to finally unite and stop taking our pain out on ourselves. We can make the necessary changes together to help US and the generations after US. Please spread the word about this album. UNITY MAKES STRENGTH!
